Capturing nature and aquascapes on ultra large format film is the ultimate means of expression that Amano realized with his extensive photographic experience. What Amano expected from photography was not only its artistic aspects but photography’s ability to record an inexhaustible amount of information, which naturally led him to ultra-large format film.
There is a unique sense of nature associated with Amano’s Nature Aquariums. It finds its origin in the years of his photographic experiences which required careful observation of various nature scenes. With his Learn from Nature philosophy in mind, Amano created an aquarium environment where a school of fish swim around as if they were swimming in their natural habitat.
“I want to create this scenery in the form of an aquarium.” Playing in the water, a young boy was fascinated with the heavenly beauty of the aquatic plants. He pursued his dream and established the Nature Aquarium. The uniqueness of his view of nature and artistry integrated both landscape photography and aquascapes. Takashi Amano is recognized as a world-acclaimed artist.
